DIY Repair: Loose Carpet

Loose Carpet

Getting Started

Although many of us wish we lived by the ocean, ripples in the carpet aren’t exactly the type of waves we’re looking for. Here’s a quick DIY repair using the Arrow T50 heavy-duty staple gun that makes fixing a loose carpet as easy as 1, 2, 3.

You Will Need

Materials Needed

Other Tools

  • Mini pry bar

Materials

  • ½″ Arrow T50 staples
  • 1 ½″ Arrow 18-gauge brad nails

Start Repairing

Step 1

Using a mini pry bar, remove the transition strip to expose the loose carpet.

Step 2

If possible, use the pry bar to separate the carpet fibers, exposing the carpet backing.

Then pull the carpet taut and, using your T50 heavy-duty staple gun, begin to staple along the edge where the transition strip will cover.

Step 3

Now it’s time to reattach the transition strip – the PT18G pneumatic brad nailer (or a similar tool) should do the trick!

Finished Product

Grab your vacuum and see just how smooth that carpet is now!
